Mother's Journal

Mother’s Journal: Hand-Stitched Junk Journal

This journal cover was cut from a Daphne’s Diary magazine cover. I also used magazine pages for most of the journal pages as well.

The closure is made from lace with hand-dyed seam binding (dyed with Antique linen oxide ink) stitched to it. I have also glued a painted wood butterfly piece to the closure.
Magazine pages, diner checks from the Dollar Tree, book page adhered to form a pocket holding 3 tags.

More magazine pages, Left: corner tuck spot holding a scrap rescued from a Smash book that got to thick. Right: the chicks cut apart forms a belly band style tuck holding a journal card.

The left page has a tuck spot on the bottom formed by folding up the page and gluing the side. There are some scrap music sheet and book page decorating the page with a journal card image tucked in. On the right, I have used an image from a book as a tuck spot holding another journal card.
Here I have cover the magazine page with a vintage magazine image on the left as well as a scrap of doily. On the right, I have pasted a vintage book page with the coordinating original text. An origami book corner covered in scrap paper forms the removable tuck spot in the upper right. Two mini journal cards are tucked within.

The right page here was so beautiful that I left it exactly as it was cut out of the magazine. On the left I have added a scrapbook cut apart image as a tuck spot to hold the journal card.
